Embracing Each Superhero's Unique Journey
Kerry Magro
“Autism doesn't come with an instruction guide. It comes with a family who will never give up.”
Faith Jegede Cole
“My brain just works differently than yours, and that's okay.”
Remi’s Story
Mama and Daddy came to get me from Titi Natalie's house after a meeting. They said I'm autistic. They hugged me tight and had tears in their eyes, but they were happy and said they're proud of me. They said I'm awesome and they love me. Being autistic must be really special because they love that I teach them about a different world. It's pretty cool!
Daddy and Mama’s Story
Remi is spot on. We couldn't help but shed tears, not of sadness, but of pure joy. It finally clicked that our extraordinary little superboy processes things differently. Understanding this opened doors for us to help Remi thrive, not by pulling him into our world, but by immersing ourselves in his and learning his unique language. The confirmation of his place on the spectrum brought us peace and strength. He's one amazing little guy, and our journey with him is one we wouldn't change for anything.
Eli’s Story
Remi is the greatest big brother! He's always giving me big hugs and kisses, he looks out for me and he tells me when something is not safe for me. I love him so much.
Our precious Remi was a bit camera shy at first, but we turned it into a fun game! We took our time and let him lead the way, making the whole process enjoyable. Now, he loves taking pictures and even strikes a pose! We want to bring this joy to other families so they can capture those special moments and beautiful smiles. Let's make it a fun experience for everyone!
What do the sessions look like?
-
1. Allotted Time
We believe in giving each child the time and attention they deserve! We spend roughly an hour or less with each superhero.
We follow their lead, they will let us know when they’re ready.
-
2. We Get To Know Each Other
The first 15-45 minutes we spend getting to know them and making sure they're comfortable.
We feel comfortable going at their pace.
They want to touch our face? They can touch it!
They want us to dance or jump with them? We will dance and jump with them.
They want us to help them pick rocks? We will help them pick rocks.
They want to touch our equipment and snap a few pics? They can touch our equipment and snap a few pictures.
-
3. Click!
The rest of the time we spend taking pictures of them in their element. We don't want to overwhelm them - the most important thing is that they have fun and feel at ease!
